The reason I am starting this blog is so that I can journal my progress with my weight loss. I want to be around for a long time so that means changing my life style. I have been struggling to lose this weight for quite some time. This is basically for me but any comments and words of encouragment is welcomed. My favorite show is the biggest loser and is most defientely my inspiration. This is going to be the year I conquer my weight problem. Hence, A Happy New Year... A Happy New Me.

Curves
I went and joined Curves. I am still a member of L A Fitness. I joined on September 15th so on the 15th of October they will take my measurements and weight again to see how I am doing. So, instead of reporting weekly I will be reporting monthly. I am really hoping this will really kick start my weight loss. It is so hard to lose this weight but I am still determined to get it off. It is just so hard at my age. I still think I can conquer this. I know this was suppose to be my year to shine and I still think it will be. I know I only have about 3 months to go before the new year but I can still make a dent in this weight of mine in the next three months. Go Me.

need to stay on track
It has been a couple of hard weeks for me and I really don't know exactly why. I am still in the 220's but really want to get to onederland. Went swimming today for an hour and a half and it felt so good. Starting next week I will be on my favorite shift, early shift, so I WILL be going to the gym everyday after work and stay there for at least 2 hours or more. This weekend is the fourth of July and the 5th is my birthday so I am expecting to be a little bad with the cook outs and birthday cake from work. But starting Tuesday it will be work work work out as hard as I can. I need to get down to Kim's weight so we can start working out together again. More fun when we do it together. Probably won't be reporting in until the week after the fourth to let you know how the week went. Later

slipped a little
I had a bad week but everyone has a bad week every so often. Even though I got off track,I managed to only gain 2 lbs. I am still in the 220's and I am back on course again. I didn't get to go work out tonight but I will be going tomorrow after work and then hopefully I will be going to the Rangers game for a little fun with my daughter. I hope not to have another bad week for quite some time.

Still coming off
Week 4 and another 1.2 lbs gone. Total weight gone is 11.6. I know for anyone who is trying to lose weight we would like it to come off alot faster but in all reality coming off slowly is much better. It will stay off. I am just going to keep doing what I am doing and I know I will get there eventually. Did a new workout Video last night. Yoga. It was a beginner one but really was hard. I got through the whole hour of it and I must say I was proud of myself. Until next Monday, here is hoping for an awesome week.

week 3
Didn't lose anything but didn't gain anything either. Won't get discouraged though because I know it is harder to take off than put on. Losing it slowly is much better for me anyhow and I will get to my goal weight. Kim and I will workout again together when I get down to her weight and then we are going to see who can get to their goal weight first. It will make it very interesting. I am hoping by November I will be there so we can start working out together because it is more fun when you have someone to workout with. Until next week. Bye

week 2
Week 2 and another 3 lbs lost making it a total of 10.4. I am so happy that I am out of the 230' s and now in the 220's. I will never go back to that again. I am on my way to onederland. This is my time to shine. I know it will be awhile to get where I want to be but I have alot of support and determination behind me. My ultimate goal right now is that when I go back to my cardiologist in November, he will be so impressed on my weight loss. Will report again next Monday.

a good week
I am very happy with my results from my first week on eating healthy. I have gone from 238.8 to 231.4 in my first week. That is 7.4 lbs lost. One more week off carbs then I can add some back slowly. Staying away from carbs hasn't been that hard for me. I am sure I will want a cheeseburger one day with bread and not just on a plate and that day will come. I am really excited to finally find somrthing that is working for me. Along with eating right and exercising I should beable to lose this weight within the year. I am truly looking forward to getting out of the plus sizes. I am on my way to onederland. That will be a real exciting day when I am 199. A real mile stone for me since I have been in the 200's forever. Here's to another good week. I will check in next Monday to let you know how I am doing.

here we go again
This monday will be the start of a new diet,or should I say a different approach to trying to lose this weight. Just going to eat fruits, vegtables, salad and meat.No carbs for at least a week or maybe 2. I will check in the following Monday and give you my results. And of course, exercise-exercise-exercise.

hello again
Not too much going on with the weight loss. Haven't been able to get to the gym since my car has been broke down for over a week. They picked it up today so I hope to have it back soon. I did buy ana elliptical so I can work out this week with it. I am on vacation this week so I am really hoping to get my car back so I can get to the gym. Did do some walking though this weekend with Kim and the boys. A lot on Sunday because we went to Six Flags for 5 hours. Hope to get back on track with my weight loss.

I am back
I know I haven't been doing much with my blog lately but haven't really had much to add about my journey. Back on track again and have been working out much more than before. Really have been watching what I eat too. Kim and I have started doing Billy Blanks cardio inferno video and it really kicks butt. We also do another dance video which is alot of fun. Haven't been able to do it for a couple of weeks but as soon as we know John's schedule we are going to start again. I have been going to the gym at 5:30 am for my swim and love the early morning swim. If I work the early shift I go after work. I am looking forward to my vacation and most of it will be spent at the gym. I am hoping to lose alot of weight so when I go back to my cardiologist he will be proud of me. I go in November soI have plenty of time to do myself proud. Well that is it for now. I promise I will do better with my blog.

weigh in
Did the weigh in and was a little disappointed. Maintained so that was good but was really expecting to lose at least a couple of pounds. I really need to remember that I am 60 and metabolism has slowed down and I do have a under active thyroid. I will not give up. Really love doing Billy Blanks videos and will continue to go to the gym as well. I am going off the slim fast though.Might have too much sugar and really need to cut down on sugar because sugar turns into fat. I am just going to watch what I eat and portion control is a big thing. I will check in next Monday after the weigh in.

feeling good
Really feeling good about my program. Working out with the Billy Blanks videos really makes a big difference. He really gets you sweating. Can't wait for the weigh in this Monday to see how it has helped. Also am doing Slim Fast. I am amazed that I am not hungry. I am so determined to lose this weight.

weigh-in
I am so excited, I lost 3 lbs. Staying with the program pays off. With me doing this blog also keeps me accountable for what I do. Kim also lost 3 lbs and she also was very excited. I am glad we are doing this together. When you have some one there pushing you it helps to keep both of us motivated. WE CAN DO THIS, that is our Motto.

new workout video
So Kim and I decided to buy Billys boot camp cardio inferno workout video. It is 52 minutes of non stop cardio workout sweat your butt off. We really like it and also want to try the intense abs workout by him. We are so determined to get this weight off. If this doesn't get the weight off,I don't know what we can try next. But I have a feeling this is going to do the job. I will keep you posted on our results.

weigh-in
So, it didn't go as I wanted. I actually gained a pound but I will not let this get me down and discouraged. John,my son-in-law actually has a certificate for a personal trainer and he told me to up my cardio. I have been doing the same thing for quite sometime so my body is use to it so it needs a change. So, I am going to take his advise and see how it goes. Being 60 doesn't help either and having a under active thyroid surely doesn't help the situation. Anyhow, I will keep plugging along at it until the weight comes off. Kim maintained which is better than gaining.Will see how it goes next Monday.

our first weigh-in
Well, it went as I suspected for me but I will not let it get me down. I maintained and that to me is good since I was not able to work out since I was sick. Kim lost 2 lbs and am very proud of her. Brandi and Gracie weren't there when we did our weigh in so I am not sure how they did. Hope they did good. Went and bought the shaker weight and just did the 6 minute workout. I could really feel it in my arms and shoulders. Always could use a little extra workout. We shall see if it is as good as they say it is. Hoping next weigh-in I lose some weight.

I was sick all weekend so I was not able to get any workouts in. I was in bed for two days. Now I am all better and ready to get back to my journey of lossing this weight. Tonight is the weigh-in and not sure how I have done since I wasn't able to work out. I did still watch what I ate so if I maintained ,that will be good. I will let you all know the results.

sick
It never fails, I seem to get sick right after the New Year. I was suppose to workout with Kim, Brandi and Gracie tonight but instead I will be staying home. Hopefully I will be better by Sunday to continue with my journey. I will defientley be there for the weigh in(think it is on Monday). I really love doing the Biggest Loser Wii work out with them because it motivates me. I will keep you all updated on my progress week by week.

our first workout
Me, Kim, Brandi and Gracie all made it through our first workout together. It was a good workout and I am hoping we all will meet our goals. Gracie wanted to know what the person will get who wins the biggest loser. I told her she was in charge of the prize. She said $500 I said a little too steep for me. Then she said $250. I said maybe I should be in charge LOL. Next workout Friday.

Wii Biggest loser
Tonight Kim and I started the biggest loser on the Wii. Kim called me and asked if her friend Brandi and daughter Gracie could join us. I say the more the merrier. It is nice to have extra support in the battle that we are all facing, our weight. We will do a 12 week program to start. When we are done with that program we will start another one since it will only let us do 12 weeks at a time. I am hoping by the end of the year I will be close to my goal or at goal. One step at a time though. So far I have been doing very good with what I have been eating. Going to the gym comes easy for me since I like going there so much. I am so glad that I have the support of my daughter and that I can give her the support she needs also. I will also give Brandi and her daughter much encouragement. The Biggest Loser this season is couples so this is so appropriate that Brandi and her daughter are joining me and my daughter. Let the competion begin and see who is the Biggest Loser at the end of the year. Good Luck.

cardio
All I have to say is CARDIO CARDIO CARDIO! Doing alot of cardio to start out the workout program. Will add weights a couple times a week. Don't want to build alot of muscle right now. I will probably just update this once a week on Tuesdays. That is when Kim and Iwill be doing our weigh-ins when we start the biggest loser on the Wii. We start this Tuesday. So excited.
the gym
Today is my first day back to the gym in the new year. I am really excited to get started with my workouts. I do love going to the gym and I can spend 3 hours there with no problem. Swimming is my favorite thing so I will swim for an hour. I also love riding the bike, walking on the treadmill and doing the elipitical. Here's to a healthier new me.

day one
In my just getting started program, I woke up to have toast for breakfast. Lunch I am going to have a salad. For dinner it will be pork chop, corn, applesauce and a few potatoes. I know my workouts won't start until tomorrow because I will be at Kim's all day today.Maybe we can do a little workout at her house with the medicine ball. Kim will be working out with me also. We will be encouraging each other this year. Good luck to her too.
